Thomas Piper, Director and Editor

Director, Principal Photographer and Editor, Thomas Piper is an award-winning filmmaker, who specializes in documenting architecture. 

 As the Director of Production for the Checkerboard Film Foundation, he has been responsible for shooting, editing and coordinating all aspects of production for long-format documentaries on individuals who have made important contributions to the American arts.  As an independent producer he was commissioned by the Guggenheim Museum to make a documentary  celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Frank Lloyd Wright museum building. 

Tom has directed, photographed and edited more than 30 award-winning films on contemporary artists, architects, writers and musicians.  His work includes a series of 30-minute films on architects including Jean Nouvel, Peter Eisenman, Daniel Libeskind, Thom Mayne, Steven Holl, Jeanne Gang, Robert A. M. Stern, Diller, Scofidio + Renfro, and architectural historian Vincent Scully.  He recently completed a feature documentary on the influential landscape designer, Piet Oudolf.  

Mitchell Block, Executive Producer

Executive Producer Mitchell Block has conceived, produced, marketed and distributed documentaries, television programs, independent features and short subjects. 

Mitchell was a producing fellow at the American Film Institute.  He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the Television Academy, a founding member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Los Angeles, and a life member of the University Film & Video Association and the International Documentary Association. 

Among other awards, Poster Girl, which he produced, was nominated for an Academy Award, and selected as the Best Documentary Short by the by the International Documentary Association.  He conceived, co-created and was an executive producer for the award-winning 10-hour PBS documentary Carrier; and was an executive producer for HBO's Oscar-winning film Big Mama.  No Lies, which he wrote, produced and directed was one of 600 American films made since 1895 that have been selected in the last 25 years for the National Register of Historical Films of the Library of Congress for preservation. 

He is currently producing documentaries about the Greek Holocaust, the woman survivors of the Russian Gulag, and the Sixth Extinction.  He has recently completed Face of the Nation about United States Pavilion architecture and participation in World’s Fairs.

William Versaci, Creative Producer

Creative Producer William Versaci is a filmmaker, architect and construction project manager who conceived Vice Versa Media to produce  educational programs on architecture and building from the elementary school classroom to public television broadcast.
